How to sell BNB in Nigeria
- Step 1
Check BNB is eligible to sell
Read the supported catalogue before planning a sale. Eligibility is per asset and can change.
- Step 2
Select BNB and the amount
Open Sell, choose BNB, and enter the amount. Note any minimum shown if you will fund the sale externally.
- Step 3
Choose the funding path
Use an available ebitpoint BNB balance, or send from an external wallet. Follow only the instructions for the option you chose.
- Step 4
Read the naira payout and bank destination
Check the BNB amount, the naira figure, and the saved Nigerian bank account together before creating the order.
- Step 5
Send BNB itself, not a token on its network
Use the address and network the order shows, and send BNB rather than a token that merely lives on the same network. Keep the transaction hash.
BNB is an asset and a network at the same time
BNB is the native asset of its own network, in the same way that ETH is the native asset of Ethereum. That dual role is the source of most of the confusion around it.
A very large number of other tokens are issued on BNB's network. They use the same address format, they show up in the same wallet, and they often appear on the same screen. None of them are BNB.
The mistake this creates
When an order is created for BNB, it is expecting BNB. If you send a token that lives on BNB's network instead, the address will be correct, the transfer will confirm, and the order will not credit โ because what arrived is not what the order was for.
This is different from the network mistake that catches people with USDT. Here the network is right and the asset is wrong, which is harder to spot because nothing looks obviously out of place.
Before sending, check the asset selector in your wallet as carefully as you check the address. A wallet showing a long list of similarly-named tokens is exactly the situation this goes wrong in.
Two moving prices, not one
BNB is not a stablecoin. Its dollar price moves on its own, and the naira payout also depends on the dollar-naira rate, which moves separately.
That means a naira figure for a BNB sale can change for either reason, or both at once. The order preview shows the current figure; treat an older number as out of date rather than as a promise.
Before you confirm
The order preview shows the BNB amount, the naira payout and your Nigerian bank destination together so they can be checked against one another.
Change a wrong destination before creating the order. Once a payout has gone to the account recorded on the order, it is outside the platform's control.
